Government Agencies

CSLB — The CSLB (Contractors State Licence Board) maintains standards for the licensing, certain business practices, and monitoring of contractors. CSLB keeps track of the status of licenses, and any complaints against licensed contractors throughout the state. Of course, Centennial Services is a licensed landscape contractor: C27 657386

DPR — The Department of Pesticide Regulation is a part of California Environmental Protection Agency. Its job is to establish and enforce standards to maintain environmental, public, and workplace safety where pesticides are used. DPR licenses pest control businesses, and certifies individual applicators and advisors. DPR oversees the continuing education of its certificate holders, as well. Centennial is licensed by DPR, and our certified applicators attend numerous seminars annually to maintain both their CE units and their knowledge base.

DWR — The Dept of Water Resources promotes water conservation among the water delivery agencies in the state of California. DWR maintains a statewide network of weather stations, which provide valuable plant water need information to irrigators. You can read their newsletter online.

Gardening Community

Descanso Gardens — Expansive gardens located in La Canada, CA. Nice any time, but you may want to visit during the annual camellia festival in late February. There are 35 acres of camelias here, many of them towering overhead as trees. Really stunning when in full bloom. Other festivals, concerts, and educations events held year-round.

Fullerton Arboretum — Visit the arboretum to see their plant collection, or for a special event such as the annual Green scene. The arboretum is a great source of information on plant care, and also holds regular plant sales. We support the arboretum through contributions, purchases of nursery stock, and attendance at events.

Quail Botanic Gardens — Located in Encinitas, Quail Botanic Gardens is a nice respite from the city. Waterfalls, bamboo garden, rare fruit and much more. Quail hosts a diverse array of events throughout the year. Check their calendar for detailed information.

Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Garden — This garden specializes in native plants, and has an extensive collection of cultivars which it has developed for southern California gardens. Located in Claremont at 1500 N. College Avenue.

Water Conservation Garden — This garden at Cuyamaca College in San Diego county was conceived, constructed, and is maintained to demonstrate the principles of xeriscaping. The website is very informative on this topic, as well as offering a calendar of educational events at the garden.

Wildflower Hotline — The Wildflower Hotline posts updated observations from around the state of wildflower bloom. Also, there is an excellent links section to websites of many natural areas throughout California.

Landscape Industry

CLCA — California Landscape Contractors' Association is a trade organization which strives to promote professionalism in the landscape industry. CLCA certifies landscape technicians, distributes training publications, holds annual landscape beautification competitions, along with their monthly meetings and newsletters which keep members up to date with important technical, political, and business information. We are proud to be members in good standing with this fine organization.
